Quiet Budget · Privacy policy

Privacy, stated plainly.

Quiet Budget is made by Echo House Labs Inc. This policy explains what data the app handles, where it lives, and the choices you have. We've tried to write it plainly.

The short version

The short version

Quiet Budget is local-first. Your data lives on your device. You can use the entire app with no account and no network connection.

An account is optional. Signing in turns on sync — keeping your budget across your devices, or shared with a partner who signs in to the same account — and only then does any of your data leave your device.

We don't show ads, sell or share your data, or track you. There is no analytics or advertising of any kind in the app.

If you sync, your data is sent over an encrypted connection and stored in a private space isolated to your account. It is not end-to-end encrypted — see "How your data is protected" below for the honest details.

You can delete your account and its synced copy at any time from inside the app.

§ 01Who we are

Quiet Budget is operated by Echo House Labs Inc. For any privacy questions or requests, contact us at support@echohouselabs.com. For data that you choose to sync, Echo House Labs Inc. is the data controller.

§ 02Using Quiet Budget without an account

By default, Quiet Budget stores everything locally on your device (your transactions, budgets, accounts, goals, plan, and settings). In this mode no account is required, nothing is transmitted to us or anyone else, and we have no access to your data and collect nothing about you. This never changes — local-first is the core of the app.

§ 03What we collect if you create an account and sync

Sync is an optional feature (part of Quiet Plus). If you create an account and enable it, we process:

  • Account information: your email address and an authentication credential (your password is handled by our authentication provider and is stored only in hashed form — we never see it in plaintext).
  • Your budgeting data: the financial information you enter in the app — transactions, category budgets, accounts and balances, transfers, recurring payments, plan lines, goals, income sources, and related settings. This is uploaded so it can sync across your devices — or be shared with a partner who signs in to the same account.

We do not collect advertising identifiers, location, contacts, or device tracking data; analytics or usage telemetry (the app contains no analytics SDK); or any connection to your real bank, card, or financial institution. Quiet Budget has no access to bank accounts; everything you enter is manual.

Sharing one account (partner sync). Sync is tied to a single account. If you and a partner sign in to the same account to share one budget, everyone signed in to that account can see and change all of its data. There are no separate per-person logins or permissions, so treat the account credentials like a shared key.

§ 04Subscriptions and purchases

Quiet Plus is sold as an in-app purchase through Apple and Google. When you buy or restore a subscription, the store processes your payment and sends a purchase receipt to our subscription provider, RevenueCat, which validates it and tells the app which Quiet Plus tier you own. We receive your purchase history and an anonymous purchase identifier — never your card number or full payment details, which stay with Apple or Google.

§ 05How your data is protected

  • In transit: all sync traffic is encrypted using industry-standard TLS.
  • Isolation: synced data is stored in a database protected by row-level security, so each account can only ever read or write its own rows.
  • Access: access to production systems is restricted.
Honest limitation — not end-to-end encrypted. Your synced data is stored in a form that our systems (and our hosting provider's systems) can technically read. We do this so sync, account recovery, and support work normally. We do not read, mine, profile, sell, or advertise against your data — but we are not able to claim it is mathematically impossible for us to access it. If end-to-end encryption matters to you, you can continue to use Quiet Budget entirely locally without an account.

§ 06Service providers (sub-processors)

When you sync or purchase, we rely on a small number of vetted providers acting on our behalf:

SupabaseHosted database, authentication, and sync APIRuns on Amazon Web Services infrastructure.
RevenueCatValidates in-app purchase receipts and manages your Quiet Plus entitlementReceives your purchase history and an anonymous purchase identifier — never your card details.
ResendSending account emails (confirmation, password reset)Receives your email address to deliver these messages.
Apple / GoogleApp distribution and, where applicable, subscription billingGoverned by their own privacy policies.

We do not sell or rent your information to anyone, and we do not allow these providers to use your data for their own purposes.

§ 07Where your data is stored

Synced data is stored on servers located in the United States. If you use the app from outside the US, your data may be processed there. (Local data never leaves your device.)

§ 08Your choices and controls

  • Use without an account — keep all data on-device, share nothing.
  • Sign out — stops syncing; your local data stays on the device.
  • Delete your account — from the in-app Account & Sync screen, the "Delete account" action permanently removes your account and its synced server-side copy. Your local copy remains on the device unless you also clear it.
  • Export your data — export to a file (CSV / backup) at any time from within the app; your data is always yours to take.
  • Clear local data — remove the app's local data through the app's reset option or your device settings.

To make a privacy request, email support@echohouselabs.com.

§ 09Data retention

Local data is retained on your device until you delete it. Synced data is retained while your account is active; when you delete your account, its synced rows and the account record are removed from our systems. Routine encrypted backups, where they exist, are cycled out on their normal retention schedule.

§ 10Children's privacy

Quiet Budget is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age required by your jurisdiction (for example, 13 in the US or 16 in parts of the EU). If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

§ 11Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
